The Sweepstake on the Sunday after the season-opening Captain's Challenge was won by Keith Fraser with 35 points.
The first individual silverware was up for grabs the following Saturday in the form of the Caira Trophy. The cup was won by Jimmy Sales with an excellent 81, nett 63 who not only reduces his handicap to 16 but must surely find himself on the new Handicap Secretary's 'watch list' for this season! Second was Arthur Williamson with a 78, nett 66 and third with the lowest gross of the day being 76, nett 69 was Robbie Jamieson.
The Sunday Sweepstake was won by David Smith with 37 points, just ahead of a quartet of players with 33 points.
This past Saturday saw the RNLI Spoons being contested, the winner was Paul Foster with a 79, nett 66 showing that all that dog walking hasn't been wasted. Joint second with nett 67's were Paul Nicol 84, nett 67, and once again with the lowest gross of the day 73, nett 67 Robbie Jamieson.
The poor forecast and wintery showers put pay to the East/West Cup on Sunday.
Players are reminded that the cut-off date for Matchplay entries is this Friday the 23rd of April.
