A play off was required to decide the 36-hole Shetland County Championship winner for 2010.
Leading the pack after the first 18 was the trio of Ross Chisholm, Dougie MacDonald and Michael Boxwell on 73. Unfortunately Ross and Dougie could only manage 79's in the second round to drop out the winners enclosure. Two steady 75's saw Colin Bain sneak into third place. Whilst a best second round score of 74 saw Robbie Jamieson tie with Michael on a score of 149 for the two rounds.
A sudden-death play off was required to identify the County Champion. Only one hole was needed after Robbie found the ditch with his tee shot at the 10th and a par 4 was good enough to see Michael crowned the champion.
The Handicap Cup, put up by Shetland and Whalsay Golf Clubs to encourage more participants was no less keenly contested with Dougie MacDonald posting a total of 138 for third place. Gavin Philip grabbed second with 136, whilst Bruce Crossan deliverd a win with total of 133 after rounds of nett 65, 68. A special mention must go to Jake Constable for his superb first round score of nett 63.
