News Posted: 4th October 2010

The final full month of the golfing season saw the number of entries drop away as the month wore on, which was a shame as the course was still in excellent condition, a testament to Edwin and his team’s hard work over the year, which resulted in some excellent scores being posted during the month.

The first Wednesday sweep saw a superb (73) nett 62 from Marc Henry take top spot only by virtue of countback from Brydon Leask with the exact same gross and nett scores.  Third with the lowest gross of the day (75) nett 65 was the evergreen Tommy Simpson on countback from Steven Henry (87) nett 65.

The following Wednesday saw a win for Stuart Tomlinson with 37 points, a point ahead of Steven Goodlad with Michael Welsh third with 34 points.    The third Wednesday sweep saw Rab Duffin claim first with 37 points, Adrian Henderson claiming second with 35 and Brydon Leask and Dougie MacDonald taking third and fourth with 34 points.  What turned out to be the final Wednesday competition of the season on the 22nd was won by Jimmy Smith with an excellent 38 points, in second was Robbie Watt on 36 with playing partners John Thomson and Ian Pottinger claiming third and fourth with 33 points.

Ryan Watt showed that the hard work of polishing the cup the night before did not go to waste by retaining the Haig Whisky trophy with a faultless 40 points,  beating Rab Duffin into second by a point with Stanley Sinclair claiming third on 36 points.  The September medal also witnessed some superb scores with Paul Foster claiming first with a wonderful (75) nett 62, Lee Carter was only a shot behind with a nett 63 (73) with Gary Wiseman taking third with a nett 64 (76) and Rad Duffin fourth with a nett 65 (83).

The S.O.S Doubles saw a win for the two Jimmy’s – Sales and Smith after shooting 36 and 37 points respectively for a combined total of 69.  A shot ahead of the pairings of Derek Nicolson (33) & Mark Gair (35) and Davy L Thomson (29) & John Collins (39), John shooting the highest individual points of the day.  The Scott Cup and Medal Winners Shield were won by Ian B Leask with a (77) nett 64 and Dave McNicol with a career best (71) nett 62 respectively.  The season’s last chance of silverware, the End of Season Tankard was won by Rab Duffin to cap an excellent September with 35 points, a point ahead of John Thomson who sneaked second spot by countback from Arthur Williamson.
