The first Saturday in September saw 34 competitors line up for 2010 Seniors Open, once again sponsored by LHD.
A bright sunny day welcomed the competitors to the course, a fine change from the weather that’s greeted some of the open competitions this year, although the usual dale breeze was still present.
The sun’s long awaited appearance was welcomed with some excellent scoring. In the handicap count-back separated John Teale and Gibbie Pottinger in fourth and fifth respectively, after both shot (89) nett 71’s. Third place was claimed by the masterful Ian Scott with a (78) nett 70. Using his knowledge of the course to take second spot by a shot was Green’s Convener Robbie Jamieson (75) nett 69, but banking the title in his first year as a senior was Stevie Tulloch with a (79) nett 66.
The scratch competition saw a very close finish with Tommy Simpson taking third on 75, one shot better in second was T George Leask but claiming the title and a hat-trick of wins in opens this year was Ernie Smith with a 73.
The club would like to thank LHD for their continued support and especially to Christine for her dual role on the day as head chef and sponsors representative.
