Streamline Shipping had again pulled out all the stops to provide catering and refreshments and their continued sponsorship is greatly appreciated by the club. A special mention must go to Edwin for clearing the machinery from his shed to accommodate the barbeque which provided some much needed respite for the players as they battled their way round the course.

Although conditions were tough this did not stop the battle for the handicap and scratch trophies with countback coming into play to decide a number of places.

Only one shot separated the top five places in the handicap section. Club Secretary Steve Lamb sneaked fifth after countback with a nett 71, Ernie Smith taking fourth, also due to countback. The top three also required the use of countback to separate them after all shot nett 70's. Third place went to Whalsay's Robert Irvine. Second, after countback was Dale Treasurer Dave MacNicol, but hauling in the trophy, again after countback was Dougie Shearer.

The scratch section saw Michael Boxwell take third with 76, second after countback was another Whalsay stalwart Graeme Sandison. But three shots clear with an magnificent 73 considering the conditions was Robbie Jamieson.

Other winners on the day were longest drive at the 4th - Dougie Shearer, nearest the pin at the 9th - Davy.J.Thomson, nearest the pin at the 12th - Graeme Davie and Ernie Smith, and finally nearest the pin in 2 at the 16th - Jordan Leask.
